June Wrap Up

We had a really great time having friends and family over for a weekend of celebration which began with a BBQ for our friends Jory & Joey and the following day for the boys’ 4th birthday party. The birthday party on that Saturday went smoothly and it was fun to see all the kids playing together, having pizza and cake. We finished off the official birthday weekend on Monday the 9th by playing on the grass in the front yard together with Danilo and Melissa. The boys opened a couple small gifts we saved for their ‘real’ birthday. All in all it was a wonderful birthday celebration.

During our week of vacation we all ended up being sick at one point or another, but I’m happy to say it didn’t bring me down. I’m trying to go with the flow more often and not let throwing up for hours set the tone for my entire week's vacation! It didn’t hurt that the weather made a turn for summer so I was just happy to be at home with my family enjoying the sunshine. Robby got our bikes up and running so we ended the week with some nice bike rides around the hood.

Last week we spent a lot of time with our lovely friends A and Josh from the Philippines. The boys have always had a special connection with another of our friends from the Philippines, Hazel, but I think A and Josh are very serious contenders for the boys’ affection. Especially Josh. Oh Josh. Josh this, Josh that. Where’s Josh? Is Josh coming to Costco? YAY Josh is coming to Costco! Charlie cried and cried at Costco when I took over the pushing of the grocery cart from Josh. It was all terribly sweet. And Eli seemed to enjoy teasing A about her name. Is it B? Is it C? In a few weeks another friend from Manila will be here. She’s gonna have to bring out the big guns.

This past Saturday Robby and I rode our bikes to the downtown Farmer’s Market. Robby hauled the boys in their trailer behind his bike. It was a really nice ride and it only made it more apparent how close we actually live to downtown Salt Lake City. Of course we know we live close and that’s a big reason why we love our neighborhood, but now that we’ve taken the dive I think we’ll be biking into town much more often. I see a date night to the Gateway via bicycles coming on.

Also our garden is well underway. I’m looking forward to having more produce than I know what to do with. I’m especially excited for our tomatoes this year. We’ve got about 8 different varieties. After we’ve tried them all I’ll report the results. Martha Stewart opened our eyes to the tomato tart and summer hasn’t been the same since.

I can’t believe June is already coming to a close and the 4th of July is next week?!? I have really enjoyed this month. It’s been a breath of fresh air between the birthday celebration with our family and friends, our friends in town from the Philippines, the bicycle riding and our garden. Love ko ’to. I watched too many McDonalds ads in Manila.

p.s. Sorry I'm lacking pics. I'm lucky I mustered up this post. I'll get some pics together and post them in the next couple of days...or weeks...or months.

Sounds like your June has been awesome!! And good for you guys and your bike rides! That's something I've always wanted to institute in this house..."family bike rides". Maybe someday! And Happy 4th birthday to the boys! Sometimes I forget that they and Olivia were born just a couple months apart! Good to hear from ya! :o)

I was at the Farmers' Market on Saturday, too! I love that place! Next time you go let me know...maybe I can meet you there. I will, however, be driving my car to get there.

And when you're ready to give up some of that excess produce, please send some my way. PLEASE!
